Former Vice President – Food Services and Airport Lounges, United
Jimmy Samartzis former Vice President of Food Services and Airport Lounges. Overseeing nearly 3,500 employees and was responsible for all catering and onboard services vital to the customer experience. Jimmy is committed to innovation and in this role; he led the team responsible for transforming the United Clubs and creating a premier global catering and inflight food experience. Throughout Jimmy’s time in this role, United introduced chef-inspired meals, signature snacks, and a wide variety of high-quality beverages including specialty cocktails, illy coffee and seasonal drink options.
Prior to this position, Jimmy was the vice president of customer experience for United where he was responsible for customer experience strategy and innovation. In this role, he helped elevate the customer experience based on key customer insights. Previously, he was the managing director of global environmental affairs and sustainability where he spearheaded the United Eco-Skies program, including the Midwest Alternative Sustainable Biofuels Initiative.
Before joining United in 2007, Jimmy worked as a strategy and management consultant at leading international consultancies. He also worked in many government-related positions including at the White House.
Jimmy received his BA degree in political science from the University of Chicago, his MA in Government from John Hopkins and his MBA from Oxford University, where he was also a member of Pembroke College. He is a passionate supporter of youth development and proudly sits on the Board of Directors for Urban Initiatives and Junior Achievement.
